The Rest of the Trip

After a full night's sleep and a fabulous breakfast Mark and I headed to the aquarium to meet up with the rest of our crew. Sophie and Haleigh are old hats at the aquarium (due to many visits with Meeps and Gran) but for Mackenzie it was all new and fascinating!

The penguin exhibit was great! Those penguins were so active, they got right up to the window as if they could hear the squeals of excitement they were causing to erupt on the other side of the glass.

Sophie was measuring up and soaking in the information (I think she was taking mental notes in preparation for a presentation for co-op.)

Haleigh took on the personal responsibility of teaching Mackenzie every bit of information she had learned on past trips to this adventure land.

The touch tank was by far the most exciting part as each of the girls got to touch a stingray, horseshoe crab, and urchins.

After all the adventure Mark and I split to make an appointment at a local spa-- aahhh!

Then we met back up with the exhausted girls and grandparents who had also taken in the Children's Museum since we had parted.

After ice cream was devoured and dripped all about the girls headed back to Gran and Meep's to rest with some movie time before heading to Chick-fil-a to play. Mark and I headed out on the town for a fabulous dinner, a walk through the park in the rain - so much better than sweating, and then we hit the concierge dessert table--yum!!

The next morning we checked out of our beautiful dwelling with plans to hit the beach for another day with the girls...

but this was the best the weather looked all day.

After a farewell lunch with Gran and Meeps we trekked back through the rain toward home. Do I even need to mention that the girls slept most of the way?!

What a sweet weekend we had!

  1. What a perfect combination of family time and couple time! It's great to have Gran and Meeps so close.
