A Splashing Good Memorial Day Weekend

Saturday afternoon brought our annual "Small Group Memorial Day Cookout." It is always such a treat to watch the kids have a blast together! (It is also a great time to catch up with the adults as it has been a few weeks since we were together.)
Thanks MB and E for the great time!!
One sad note to the evening, it was the slides final round. It held up to many many kiddos for 4 years now and that was about all it could take. But no time to be sad for long...
Sunday after church we headed to meet up with our good friends who have moved for fellowship. We finally got to meet their precious new addition and enjoyed a great day hanging out at the lake together!
(This looks like trouble waiting to happen. But none did- just lots of laughs and fun!)
Sophie was very excited to make it up on the ski board!

Haleigh was up and going 1 1/2 laps like a seasoned pro.
Then it was time for the mammas to have some fun!!
After LOTS of laughing and splashing we let the kids have their turn.

After a long day of sun and fun everyone was ready to hit the beds...
HOWEVER, a fort had been constructed earlier in the weekend with promises the girls could have a "camp out" Sunday night.

It was a GREAT weekend!!!

What's in that pool?

Last Thursday the girls and I headed out the door for our 9 hour road trip to Grandma and Poppy's house. I had a "Parent Practicum/Tutor Training" scheduled for three days so the girls were being delivered to Grandma's house for some lovin'.

As we arrived, there was a funny smirk on my mom's face. Entering the living room we realized why...
???
Why, you may ask, was there a kiddie pool in the living room.
Let's take a closer look...
Yep, your seeing it right, three chicks just hanging out in my parents' living room. They were just waiting to be played with, so my mom "rented them for about a day so the girls could play with them, they love animals so much!"
Needless to say the girls were all three overjoyed at the sweet surprise!
I headed back toward South Carolina on Saturday. Lots and lots of loving and fun took place over the following 4 days while I was away.

Thanks Mom for keeping my gals so I could attend my practicum worry free. The girls had a blast and can't wait to come back.
Dad, thanks for keeping the stock of Dilly Bars and for driving our girls home to us.
We so enjoyed having you here for a few days on the return trip. We'll be sure to put a reservation in at our new favorite restaurant for two weeks from now when you get to make the trip again :)
Thanks again,
Love you so!!!

Work Weekend

It was time to mulch!
A highlight of the weekend was watching the mulch be dumped into the back of the truck and feeling the bouncing and rocking and hearing the excited laughter!

The girls couldn't wait to get in it!

The days took a lot of "team" effort.

(Don't worry Grandma, it wasn't all hard work...)

I can promise EVERYONE slept well that night!

the end of a sweet day packed with memories.

it almost didn't happen.
i was behind on a lot a things (laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, blogging...) then a friend called and said we could trade my youngest for her oldest for the day to make it more "do-able." as i continued to debate with myself i called mark for direction.
"in 2 years what will the girls remember, that you got the house clean and laundry done or a fun day at the science center?" (along with this question came a promise that he would remember over the weekend why the fridge was empty and he was still pulling his clothes out of the dryer for the third day in a row :)

i am so glad we went!!
